Mark Tholander GIVEN ENOUGH TIME ON THIS BOAT, YOU WILL LEARN TO LOVE ME 16-02.18 - 02.03.18
"As we keep us afloat, as we keep us afloat, Oh, how many fish are
under the boat? One, two, three, four, one, two, three, four How many
to count, between each shore? One, two, three, four, one, two, three,
four As the days swing in locomotion, oh, will we ever count this ocean?
One, two, three, four, one, two, three, four One, two, three, four,
one, two, three, four"
A rotating pineapple, swarms of popcorn,
a singing pianist and a conversation in a rowboat. These are some of
the tableaux presented in Mark Tholander's newest video work 'Given
enough time on this boat, you'll learn to love me' which will premiere
at Organon. In his movies we often encounter characters in waiting
positions. In the waiting room, at the train station, in a rowboat or
diner, conversations that balance between the intimate, unsaid, latent
and small-talk are unfolded.
In addition to his own work as a visual artist, Mark is a part of the artist groups ORAUM and Piscine.
